Infrastructure
Louisville Dryer's 30,000 sq. ft. factory is located southwest of Louisville International Airport. The plant was originally built in 1951 and has recently undergone extensive upgrading, especially to the electrical wiring to support additional welding requirements. Louisville Dryer Company has machinery to accomplish all aspects of manufacture and repair of our dryers. This greatly reduces reliance on outside contractors and gives us greater control of the quality of the end product.

Technology
Process Equipment:
Louisville Dryer Company designs, builds, installs and maintains a full line of rotary process equipment for virtually every industrial drying application. Every single component is designed for maximum performance. We design and build coolers, rotary screens, granulators, kilns and calciners.
Louisville Dryer Company has a vast database of proven operating units in the field and has thousands of hours of history and excellent performance. We employ a number of registered professional engineers and other design professionals to maintain exacting standards in applied technology from one dryer and one industry to another.
Louisville Dryer features the latest in extensive software from mechanical design including finite element analysis. This finite element analysis has been developed over a number of years and assists in item such as:
- Flighting Design
- Tube spacing
- Air speed recommendations
- Combustion system analysis
- Selection of standard or exotic materials for construction
Numerous proprietary manufacturing techniques have been developed in our facilities over the many decades of operation and building quality, long-lasting dryers.
Perhaps one item that is often overlooked is the in-field installation and commissioning. Delivering an excellent product such as a Louisville dryer is one thing, but making certain that it performs in the right manner once it has been sent to the field is another critical part of delivering a completed system. The training of maintenance personnel, operators and the installation tolerances that are maintained at the time it is first set up are very critical for long term performance and satisfaction by the user.
Our lab duplicates your production conditions! Louisville Dryer Company will give you authoritative figures based on years of experience in industrial drying. If you have or anticipate a troublesome drying problem, contact us to arrange a customized pilot test in our test laboratory. Our test lab is equipped with laboratory-sized dryers that are scaled down versions of our production units. In this lab, we can reproduce your actual drying conditions and show you, by drying your own material in precise quantities, the results you can expect. The experimental work will be done in our plant before you buy!

History

The Louisville brand name has been synonymous with rotary drying equipment for over a century. Louisville Dryer Company was founded in 1890 in Louisville, Kentucky. It is unclear exactly when the first rotary dryer was built here, possibly because no one thought about writing it down. We do know that the company was producing equipment for the local distilling industry in the late 19th century. The very first dryers we have documented were shipped under shop order #72, four rotary dryers that were shipped to a commercial distilling company in Terra Haute, Indiana, in February 1904. Five hundred thirty additional dryers were built between 1904 and 1923. Between 1923 and 1945, an additional 955 dryers were designed and manufactured by the company. We believe the total number of dryers manufactured by the Louisville Dryer Company to be in the excess of 2,500 units in the last 117 years.
Since the turn of the last century, the Louisville Dryer Company has changed locations numerous times, once moving for a short time to the greater Chicago area! Our 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant has been the company's home since 1985 and will remain in that location for years to come.
